Entries can be submitted until 25 September 2008.
Amateur filmmakers, the press and television now describe the important video-film award as “the Oscar for amateur filmmakers”. Under this year’s theme, “Video Meets Fun”, video contributions with a maximum length of three minutes can be entered in five different age groups and the School Projects category. High-definition video material is also eligible for the special High Definition award.
Academy Award-Nominated Cinematographer Joins the Jury
For the first time this year, Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Jost Vacano will join the jury, which also includes renowned director Imo Moszkowicz. Vacano became internationally known through his outstanding cinematography on “Das Boot” and numerous films by director Paul Verhoeven. He has received many national and international film awards and was nominated for an Academy Award in 1983.
Camgaroo Award Night
The highlight of the ceremony is Camgaroo Award Night, the evening every amateur filmmaker eagerly awaits. The winners receive valuable prizes ranging from high-definition camcorders to professional post-production and effects software from industry leaders including Adobe, Canon and Sony. Winning entries are screened on a huge video wall. In cooperation with make.tv, the event will be streamed worldwide over the internet.

About the Camgaroo Award
Gabriele Lechner established the Camgaroo Award in 2002 to encourage enjoyment of creative filmmaking. The quality of the entries positively surprised the jury from the beginning. Its members are experts from film, television and digital media processing. Long-standing member Imo Moszkowicz directed works including “Max, der Taschendieb”, “Meister Eder und sein Pumuckl” and “Tatort”. This year the jury is strengthened by Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Jost Vacano, known for “Das Boot”, “The NeverEnding Story”, “RoboCop”, “Starship Troopers” and “Hollow Man”.
The Camgaroo Award has become one of the most important video-film prizes for amateur filmmakers and is held annually with a changing theme. Winners in the different age groups are honoured during a large evening event.
Television presenter Jochen Sattler will guide audiences through a colourful mixture of music, video contributions and the exciting award ceremony. The full-evening programme will be streamed live on the internet and can be viewed worldwide.
