Minister Sinner was lifted towards the exhibition-hall ceiling like a camera operator on the “golden” dolly, the thousandth unit built by Panther of Oberhaching. At market leader ARRI, he tested the LED light for which the company had received a coveted Cinec Award on Saturday and learned how the D 21 camera works. The minister was equally impressed by the 3D rig from P+S Technik of Ottobrunn, which reduces the unpleasant side effects of viewing 3D films, and by the new Steadicam vest, which he tried himself at the Sachtler stand.
Sinner was impressed by the variety of innovations presented by 157 exhibitors from 15 countries in the M,O,C exhibition halls. He was able to program a camera move himself on the computer-controlled Technodolly from Technocrane of Plzeň. Among the many LED innovations at this year’s fair, he was also enthusiastic about the Cinec Award-winning handheld LED from Roscolab of London.
Minister Sinner also stopped at the British exhibitors’ joint stand. He greeted Joe Dunton, Vice President of the British Society of Cinematographers, and encouraged British producers to pursue active exchange and cooperation with German film-technology manufacturers.
The minister also visited two young Munich film-technology companies, BlueCineSystems and Cineparts, and watched demonstrations of their products.
After visiting the camera set of the University of Television and Film, the audiovisual-media cluster stand and a MedienCampus Bayern event, the media minister concluded his tour at a presentation of the Fraunhofer Institute Erlangen research project “Tools in Media Production.”
Minister Eberhard Sinner concluded: “The capabilities of companies and research institutions from Bavaria are impressive, and their innovative power is convincing. It is also extremely pleasing that more and more exhibitors from around the world consider it worthwhile and sensible to present their products at Cinec in Munich, increasing the fair’s importance from one edition to the next.”
