For the current version of Pixar’s server-based rendering solution, the Shader Language (RSL) has been expanded, support has been added for Disney’s Ptex, and image shaders and a subdivision API are offered. Memory management has also been improved and thread scalability further developed. On the software side, the latter can be used in any number.
Pixar’s Render-Maqnagement Solution Tractor 1.0 has already been released. The management solution enables distributed rendering on computer farms with tens of thousands or more processor cores.
