Growing up with the industry
Since it was founded in 1994, FMX’s range of topics has encompassed every form of animation, visual effects, computer games, interactive media and mobile entertainment, as well as their many possible applications in science and business. Exciting content crosses media boundaries. It appears in computer games just as it does in animated television series or as mobile games. The
convergence of digital formats is therefore the major unifying theme of FMX, where more than 350 international speakers from the top ranks of their respective specialist fields report on new projects and possibilities.
Trends and topics in 2010
Whether as an expert dialogue, industry meeting, career platform or support for young talent, FMX brings its participants and speakers together on many levels. The main focuses of the 2010 programme are innovations surrounding 3D stereo, which have long since ceased to be found only in cinemas and are already conquering television and the home sector; hybrid imagery, the fusion of animation and live-action film, as seen, for example, in the new films by James Cameron (“Avatar”), Robert Zemeckis (“Disney’s A Christmas Carol”) and Roland Emmerich (“2012”); and cross-platform production and work in 360° media.
FMX is an event organised by the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg in cooperation with the VES Visual Effects Society, AIAS Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, ACM Siggraph and 5D Conference. FMX 2010 is supported by the Baden-Württemberg State Ministry, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs and MFG Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg. FMX 2010 is organised by the Institute of
Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg.
