This is supported by a strongly team- and practice-oriented teaching concept and more than 300 guest lecturers per year. The Filmakademie also has its own Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction. At animago 2009, the animated film “Urs” was nominated in the Best Young Production category. In 2008, the 14-minute animated film “Descendants” won the animago AWARD in the “Best Character” category.
The latest award went to Angela Steffen, a graduate of the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction. On July 5, 2010, she received the Animation Award in Hamburg for her graduation film “Lebensader”. The young animation filmmaker prevailed against 110 competitors from six countries.

The team of Jacob Frey and Harry Fast, also students at the Animation Institute, had two reasons to celebrate. They won second prize and the audience award for their short film “BOB”. All films can be viewed online at http://www.hamburg-animation-award.de.

Whether the Hamburg Animation Award 2010, German Camera Award, Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award, best direction, best screenplay or best animation, Filmakademie students are among the leaders. There are also developments on the training side: from the 2010/2011 academic year, the Production programme offers specialisation in one of three areas, Production Animation/Effects/Games, Production Interactive Media and Production Advertising Film, either as a full degree or as lateral entry into project studies.
