First, it should be known that unlike Version 10, the free version of Lightworks v11 cannot directly open data in the AVCHD and Canon EOS MOV formats. The reason is missing licenses, which are, however, integrated into the paid Pro version.
The Cineform format, on the other hand, continues to work without restriction. One of many new features is, for example, that an auto-save function is now integrated by default. GPU effect acceleration is also present and, according to user reports, the program has become more stable and makes working under Windows more pleasant.
According to blog posts, Linux and Mac OS versions are expected to become available in the future. It seems that the Linux version would bring a worthy competitor for Kdenlive 0.9 to the NLE market. A 64-bit version is said to be available as early as June 2, 2012.
