In contrast to the previous version 6, version 6.5 provides users with, among other things, 10-bit color correction and sequence export including an alpha channel.

But these are not the only new features. Stereo 3D editing tools were also added, and data transfer from XDCAM/P2 as well as connection to Canon DSLRs was substantially improved. Tools such as loudness measurement and a stabilizer were additionally implemented.

Videos covering all the features of the new version are available here.

In terms of price, the update to version 6.5 is available for 299,- dollars, while the full version is normally priced at 699,- dollars. If users already purchased version 6 and did so after March 1, 2012, the update to 6.5 is free of charge.

Anyone who first wants to give the NLE editor a test run, however, can download a 31-day version including free QuickTime versions of Grass Valley’s HQ and 10-bit HQX codec. The editor can be used under Windows as well as Mac OS X.
