The R&S Clipster Gen 6 mastering station comes with new functionality for optimised DCI and IMF mastering. The colour-processing function enables transformations between standardised colour spaces and individual colour formats.
In conjunction with extended IMF-J2K profiles for HDR, R&S Clipster provides higher resolutions, frame rates and bit depth than the previous generation, according to the manufacturer.
Rohde & Schwarz DVS has worked with Dolby on an HDR mastering solution that combines Dolby Vision and IMF. According to current plans, R&S Clipster Gen 6 will enable Dolby Vision mastering, meaning that Dolby Vision metadata will be added directly to the timeline clip and converted into MXF.
Furthermore, R&S Clipster Gen 6 has allegedly improved its performance and offers I/O up to 4K 120p as well as 4K encoding at 60p. The mastering station also offers a complete IMF workflow: timeline marker authoring, captions, subtitles and forensic watermarking. The mastering station supports the IMSC1 profile, which simplifies the provision of subtitles.
Depending on their needs, users can choose between an entry-level solution for quality control, an IMF version and the R&S Clipster mastering station with the full range of functions.
