Isotropix unveiled Clarisse BUiLDER with a keynote in London last week. A super-charged new version of its already familiar software, intended primarily for studios with very large VFX and animation projects. Incidentally, the original version of Clarisse has once again adopted its original name, Clarisse iFX.
Gone One Better Again?
Clarisse could already do quite a lot anyway. And Clarisse iFX was already aimed at the industry’s big fish. BUiLDER is supposedly intended to create a nicer bridge between artists and TDs. Interactivity for artists, simplicity and the desired range of tools for debugging.
“A lot of time they [TDs] only need to modify a single parameter. They don´t want to wait for a scene to load before starting work on it” – CEO Sam Assadian.
With BUiLDER, an editable preview of the scene can therefore be loaded, which TDs are already allowed to tinker with without seeing an endlessly long loading bar in front of them. That sounds nice. And artists can continue to marvel at their changes in real time.
The Magnificent Six
A total of six main components make up Clarisse BUiLDER:
- Scene Assembly
- Sequence Lookdev
- Sequence Lighting
- Render Management
- Shot edits/layering
- Precomp
In summary, this means that the same tools as in Clarisse iFX are present – but this time neatly packaged together in a Scene Graph. Well, would you look at that, a non-destructive workflow is actually possible.
