Nearly a year after Krita 4.2.0, KDE released Krita 4.3.0 with a revised undo system, a new Magnetic Selection tool and an early-access Android port. Sharaf Zaman worked on the mobile version, which was distributed through Google Play for Android devices and ChromeOS at the time.
Selection and painting workflow
Magnetic Selection follows high-contrast edges while the artist places control points, reducing the manual work required to trace an object with freehand selection. The release also addressed painting, layers, filters, resources, animation, colour handling, Python integration and the Snapshot Docker.
Window handling was expanded so dockers and tool windows could be placed on a second display while the central canvas remained on the main monitor. Samsung Air Actions and stylus gestures were also available for supported Galaxy Tab S6, Note 9 and Note 10 hardware.
Stability fixes
The update fixed a case in which selections extending beyond the image bounds could be saved into a file and prevent further painting after reopening it. The full change set is documented in the Krita 4.3 release notes.
Artists should test brushes, tablet input, colour management and file round-tripping before moving an active production to the release.
