Jonathan Matthis, an assistant professor at Northeastern University, presented the FreeMoCap Project as an open-source route to affordable full-body motion capture.
The framework was designed to generate markerless motion-capture data using two USB webcams, with a Blender add-on supporting the downstream workflow. At the time of the original report, the project was not yet generally available to users.
Matthis described the long-term goal as making high-quality motion capture accessible at low cost.
