editStation – proven NLE workstation in a new guise

Based on the IBM IntelliStation, yello! delivers the latest generation of turnkey solutions for video editing with discreet edit and combustion via its sales partner dcp.

The media workstations of the Springtime and Heat series from the Wiesbaden-based distributor of digital media tools, yello! AG, have been given a successor. With the editStation MPRO as the successor to the Heat systems and the editStation ZPRO as the successor to the Springtime workstations, yello combines the advantages of the established IntelliStation workstation series from IBM with the special components required for digital video editing and effects processing of video material.

Equipped with the Matrox DigiSuite LE video subsystem, discreet edit software and

a 108 GB local video array, the smaller editStation MPRO, housed in a tower case, offers everything that professional video producers could wish for. Two CRT monitors or two TFT panels are optionally available, which are controlled by an integrated Matrox G450 graphics card and thus enable dual-monitor operation.

Designed for use in effects-heavy production environments and broadcasters, the larger editStation ZPRO model comes in a 19″ rackmount housing and features a Matrox DigiSuite video subsystem. In contrast to DigiSuite LE, this also enables completely uncompressed editing of video data and also has 144 GB of local video memory instead of 108 GB. Furthermore, the editStation ZPRO is equipped with the DigiDesktop graphics subsystem from Matrox, which ensures improved image quality of the video overlay and colour fidelity compared to the G450. In order to meet the higher demands on software and processing speed, the editStation ZPRO offers 512 instead of 256 MB RAM and discreet edit plus instead of discreet edit as software in the basic configuration compared to the MPRO.

Both systems can be upgraded to 1 Gbyte RAM and offer two CPUs of 1 GHz each. Naturally, dcp offers comprehensive product demonstrations and manufacturer-certified training courses in conjunction with the Lagoon discreet training centre. The project specialists at the dcp edit centre are also available to design entire studio environments and workflow concepts in advance of larger projects involving discreet edit.
