Optibase and German distributor DVC Digitalvideo Computing showed the VideoPump HD PCI-64 board at NAB 2002 as a cost-conscious HDTV input/output solution.
VideoPump HD provided full-duplex 8- and 10-bit HD-SDI input and output with 16 embedded audio channels and eight AES/EBU channels. Real-time HD pictures were recorded directly to the NTFS file system.
QuickTime compatibility allowed applications including Discreet Combustion, AIST MoviePack eXtreme, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere to access the HD files without conversion.
An SDK accompanied the board. DVC offered OEMs and systems integrators a bundle with QuickClip disk-recorder software, RS-422 open-loop control, EDL import and playlists. The announced price was €8,000.
The system was demonstrated with QuickClip and Combustion at the Optibase booth, while Microsoft also showed VideoPump solutions with Windows Media technologies. Optibase’s video operations later became part of VITEC.
