At the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, NXN Software demonstrated a web portal for the Alienbrain BMX quality-management system. It targeted communication between publishers and developers, especially during localisation of international game releases.

Publisher-side testers and project managers could use a web browser to enter software defects and change requests without installing additional software. Developers accessed the same records directly in Alienbrain and worked through the issue lists.

Gregor vom Scheidt, CEO and founder of NXN Software, said the shared environment was intended to help publishers and developers deliver higher-quality games on schedule.

Alienbrain BMX was integrated into the project workflow. It recorded, archived, delegated, tracked and resolved bugs, feature requests and development tasks. Configurable reports supported quality control and resource allocation.

Alienbrain remains a version-control system for art and design teams. The BMX portal anticipated browser-based issue management in game development.
