Owners of some 2.4x DVD writers from Memorex, HP, Philips, Sony and Verbatim could encounter compatibility problems or write errors when using new 4x DVD+R media.
Memorex released firmware 1.51 for the internal DVD Recorder 100 to correct that compatibility problem. The update did not increase the drive’s 2.4x writing speed.
The compressed download was 771 KB. Memorex expected its own 4x recordable media, built to DVD+R Forum specifications, to reach the market in April 2003. The original download address is no longer used; current owners should verify model-specific support before applying any firmware update.
