Media 100 announced “The Finishing Release,” a major expansion of the 844/X software with new tools for colour correction, unlimited-layer compositing, editing and audio processing. The company planned to present the release at NAB 2003 in April and deliver it to 844/X customers in May 2003.
The principal additions in the Finishing Release were:
- GenesisEngine colour correction: precise real-time correction designed to make colour changes and adjustments intuitive and interactive.
- Matte design and rotoscoping: tools for complex matte effects, including a new spline tool for rotoscoping and spline-based mattes.
- Improved unlimited-layer compositing: features such as curve-segment and keyframe dragging intended to simplify and extend the compositing workflow.
- Motion effects: keyframe-controlled slow motion, fast motion, strobe and trail effects.
- 3:2 pulldown: conversion of film-rate material to video intended to optimise image quality.
- Expanded audio: stereo-track support, timeline waveforms and track grouping and mixing.
- Expanded media management: playback and editing directly in bin-window picons, including setting in and out points without moving the clip to the timeline.
Media 100 planned availability for May 2003. Complete 844/X system configurations were then priced from €51,595 through authorised dealers worldwide.
