The online magazine yugen.de and Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf began Akushinn, a six-month multi-user theatre experiment. Participants uploaded fragments as text, sound, images or video; a university seminar would assemble them into a performance.
The theme was “the state one second after the revolution,” treating revolution as intellectual, social, cultural or historical change rather than only politics. Contributions could explore any expected or unexpected context.
Phase one collected user fragments through yugen. In phase two, contributors and students would edit the material into scenes, rehearse dialogue, record monologues, animate images and develop spatial concepts. Phase three moved those scenes into physical rooms using performance, video projection and sound installations.
Collection was scheduled to end in June 2003, with development during summer and a performance in August or September. Yugen described itself as an online magazine for network culture, music, literature and lifestyle, combining editorial work with participatory art projects.
