BBC Post uses its new eQ editing system for format adaptation, colour grading and finishing. The contextual QColor grading option places colour decisions inside the editing and finishing process. eQ also supplies standard-definition output and therefore forms part of the facility’s routine editing work.
Projects combining HD, SD and CGI material can mix those sources freely in the timeline because eQ operates across coexisting resolutions. This supports the use of SD archive or action footage in reports, documentaries and historical productions. eQ also converts projects into required playout formats, and the conversion can be deferred until the final output stage.
