ARRI Introduces Colour Management System

ARRI presented a colour-management system for its ARRILASER film recorder at NAB.

ARRI’s colour-management system is intended to make it easier for directors to evaluate a film’s look by matching the monitor output to the projected result. It uses a Colour Management Module developed specifically for ARRILASER and operating to the ICC standard. The module can be integrated into the workflow through an additional Image Processing Node. With ALICE preview software, the ARRILASER Interactive Configuration Editor, users can inspect the colour-management result directly on the ARRILASER workstation monitor. A new Performance Enhancing Package shown at NAB also increased the recorder’s speed.

ARRI also gave selected customers a preview of ARRISCAN, which was scheduled to be demonstrated as a prototype at IBC in September. The manufacturer said the scanner was designed to improve performance and quality, focusing on gentle film transport, optimised colour reproduction through LED illumination, and digital image capture with a high-quality CMOS sensor at resolutions up to 4K.
