DVC presented Baytech CineRAM in Europe as a camera-mounted digital-cinematography recorder for uncompressed high-resolution images.

RAM magazine workflow

A CineRAM pack mounted directly to the camera like a film magazine. When full, it could be replaced so shooting continued while recorded data moved to a VTR, disk recorder or nonlinear editor. Battery power and the compact design removed camera cabling for Steadicam and other mobile work.

The recorder supported Single-Link HD-SDI, Dual-Link HD-SDI and dual Single-Link operation for 3D applications. Capacities from 8 to 64 GB recorded as much as five minutes of uncompressed Dual-Link output or eight minutes of Single-Link output. Clips could be reviewed immediately through the HD-SDI output.

DVC scheduled the European demonstration for 8 and 9 July 2003 in Germering near Munich. Current camera, signal, storage and power compatibility should be tested before production use.
