Pinnacle Systems agreed to acquire Dazzle’s digital-video business from SCM Microsystems for approximately $21 million in shares.
Software, hardware and intellectual property
The transaction covered Dazzle’s intellectual property and rights to its software- and hardware-based video-editing products. Completion was planned for early July 2003, with the acquisition due to be recorded in Pinnacle’s first fiscal quarter ending September 2003.
Dazzle was Pinnacle’s nineteenth acquisition. Other recent purchases included Japanese software distributor Jungle KK, Steinberg Media Technologies, CD and DVD authoring developer VOB, and FAST Multimedia.
