With its format-independent editing, conforming and finishing systems Avid|DS and Avid|DS HD, Avid has already made work easier for many postproduction houses: in the first half of 2003, numerous companies once again invested in the industry standard.
ARRI had particularly positive experiences with Avid|DS HD as part of an international film festival and added the powerful system to its range of services. The Film Academy in Ludwigsburg, the University of Tübingen, Allianz Versicherungen, First Run, Scanwerk and Michael Sänger Filmproduktion from Munich likewise jumped on the HD wave with Avid|DS HD Editor. Christian Leiss Digitale Videonachbearbeitung is switching from Editbox to Avid|DS HD, UPP United Post Production from Prague expanded its Symphony to Avid|DS HD and TVN Hannover invested in an Avid|DS HD system, while Spiegel TV from Hamburg bought its second Avid|DS system.
In addition to the familiar editing functionality, new Avid|DS customers benefit from high-end finishing capabilities through compositing, Graphic&Paint and 3D applications. They can also easily transfer all projects created on an Avid Xpress, Media Composer or Symphony to the Avid|DS system in order to finish these projects at the best quality.
Avid|DS and Avid|DS HD have a user interface modeled on Media Composer. For 75,000 editors worldwide who work on this interface, this means easy and quick familiarization.
