Discreet Updates Inferno, Flame and Flint

Inferno 5.5, Flame 8.5 and Flint 8.5 add a new Master Keyer, 10-bit media support and expanded finishing tools.

Discreet plans to ship Inferno 5.5, Flame 8.5 and Flint 8.5 from spring 2004. Inferno and Flame gain a next-generation Master Keyer, 10-bit media support, Colour Warper improvements, and Discreet Advanced GMask Gradient technology in the keyer.

Further additions include Transparency, Blend and Divide logic operations, expanded Burn-In functions, enhanced EDL Editor tools with EDL conversion, multi-tape archiving and support for 720p tape decks. Flint 8.5 includes the same features apart from the improved HDTV archiving.

The Master Keyer uses new algorithms designed for more direct image interaction and more precise keying. Three-dimensional colour-isolation technology targets effects shots and poorly lit green or blue screens, HDCAM compression, film grain, colour spill, transparent objects, shadows and fine edge detail.

The releases will be free to customers holding a valid paid Discreet support contract at level 1, 2 or 3 when the software ships.
