RTL II went on air from its new broadcast centre in Grünwald near Munich at the beginning of June. Broadcast specialist CBC, the Cologne Broadcasting Center, built the file-based facility for fully tapeless transmission operations.
Programmes can be transported to playout through computer networks, and the facility is prepared to transmit additional channels.
The centre processes IMX and MXF files throughout. Its core systems include Abit’s Present-it transmission automation, Omneon playout servers, Sony IMX tape equipment, a Thomson M2100 transmission switcher, and Pixel Power Clarity graphics and effects systems.
