Thomson has announced dMAX, short for digital Media Asset Maximization, to support media companies implementing digital multi-distribution strategies. The initiative combines end-to-end workflow solutions with hardware, software and support services, with the stated aim of helping customers improve the return on their digital equipment investments.
The programme expands C2MD, Thomson’s centralised facility monitoring and management offering, with NetCentral 4.1 facility-monitoring software and the Grass Valley XMS 3500 network management system.
Grass Valley also plans to develop its media-asset-management technology into a more cost-effective option for smaller broadcasters, production studios and post-production facilities. A new Grass Valley OnCall service-level agreement is intended to give media companies more flexibility when implementing multi-distribution workflows at lower operating cost.
To support these workflow models, Thomson announced products including digital cameras for HD and SD acquisition, an integrated news, sports and feature-production system with a high-definition nonlinear editor, and new HD video switchers.
