The contract includes equipping WDR with Clarity 500 systems (SD and HD) and with the “Clarity Prep” offline software, and traning WDR personnel on the systems is also planned. The new installation will replace the old Aston Motif character generators in several stages.
The Clarity 500 family is equipped with two to four video channels, up to 16 audio channels, four live DVE functions and a two-channel clipstore with up to four hours of uncompressed playback of video, key and audio clips. In addition, CEL, text and 3D animations as well as multiticker functions are implemented. Control of almost all broadcast automation and newsroom systems as well as control via XML, Excel, Word and ASCII files is likewise ensured. All Clarity systems ship with Windows XP.
