The application – the name stands for Effects, Imaging, Grading and Editing Release – is available free of charge for customers with current QCare agreements. With the new release, Quantel primarily aims to support its large base of Henry and Editbox owners as well as users of other systems who are currently transitioning to a new high-resolution postproduction.
Eiger offers the following features as its most important functionalities:

Effects: The completely new effects tools include process-tree ergonomics, Motion Sensitive Blur, Layer Blend Modes and a mesh-based warper. In addition, the new UniKey system is implemented – a multiformat toolset for precision keying that can be used independently of color space.

Grading: The QColor option has been expanded in Eiger with a powerful set of HSL-based tools as well as ergonomic optimizations. Support for Live Pan and Scan as well as Output Image Masking simplifies multiformat version creation.

Imaging: High Definition can now be output as Standard Definition, a LUT (Look-up Table) applied, the output format specified and Pan and Scan used on the fly – completely live at full resolution and in real time – without proxies and new media data.

Editing: In terms of editing and conforming, Quantel improved the ergonomics in Eiger. The adjustments can be found in the form of identically named keycodes, in network navigation, as an extension of audio duration and through new compression tools.
