As expected, HDTV is one of the defining topics of the show (see preview report in DP 03:05). This is reflected not only in the headlines of American trade magazines; it can also be seen in reports about transitions from SD to HD that have already taken place.

While in Germany the use of HD for the news business is categorically rejected, in the USA local news broadcasters have already switched to HD, for example Komo TV Seattle or Kusa TV Denver. WUSA-TV Washington intends to switch in the near future. In the process, not only is the technology replaced, but the station is effectively rebuilt. To give broadcasters an insight into the new technologies and workflows, a complete HDTV station is being operated especially during NAB.
