Five major hardware and software suppliers from the IT field want to offer open, scalable systems for professional HD and HDV processing: Adobe, Microsoft, HP, Intel and Dell presented four so-called “Open HD Certified Solutions” at NAB that can be used for video applications ranging from HDV to uncompressed HD in real time.
In each case, the core software component is the Adobe Video Collection with Premiere Pro 1.5, After Effects 6.5, Audition 1.5 and Encore DVD 1.5. It is intended to cover the entire range of applications from capturing and editing to the output of professional HD productions. A Dell Precision Workstation 670 with Intel’s Xeon processor, for example, serves as a hardware platform for HDV editing. Adobe and Sony worked closely together to ensure the greatest possible compatibility of Premiere Pro with the HVR-Z1 HDV camcorder and HVR-M10 recorder, and thus to enable an integrated HDV workflow. For uncompressed HD in 10 bit, HP’s XW8200 workstation is to be used in conjunction
with Blackmagic Decklink HD and Matrox Axio cards.
