Quantel is introducing QColor Excel at NAB, a new hardware and software package for intuitive colour grading with its iQ digital-intermediate system and eQ editing, effects and colour-correction system. The option combines three modular panels for colour, DVE and transport control with supporting software.
QColor Excel was developed to provide specialist colourists with a fully interactive, intuitive control interface for iQ’s grading tools. “We have spent the last 12 months consulting and observing some of the world’s best-known colourists to develop the optimum user interface for them,” explains Paul Kellar, responsible for research and development at Quantel.
Quantel says the design objective was a set of intuitive colour-control surfaces that can be operated without constant visual attention to the panels, allowing colourists to concentrate on the screen. Ergonomically optimised, responsive controls can be configured individually for each colourist.
QColor debuts at NAB and is scheduled to be available from September 2005. QColor Excel will be offered as an option for new systems and can also be fitted to every existing iQ and eQ system.
