Panasonic has announced an 8 GB P2 card for the fourth quarter of 2005. The card doubles P2 storage capacity and therefore the available recording time. Customers who do not need a P2 card immediately may benefit from waiting: the new 8 GB card is expected to cost the same as the current 4 GB model.
At NAB, Panasonic also announced the 2.5-inch AJ-PCS060 DVCPRO P2 Store Drive. It provides up to 60 GB as an alternative to P2 cards and is scheduled to cost around US$1,800 from August.
