NAB: Sony Shows Two 4K Projectors

Sony’s SRX-R110 4K high-definition projector is expected to cost €100,000

Sony presented its first 4K projector at NAB after its earlier debut at ISE 2005 in Amsterdam. The SRX-R110 high-definition projector has a resolution of 4,096 × 2,160 pixels, an output of 10,000 ANSI lumens and a high contrast range. Sony’s Silicon X-tal Reflective Display (SXRD) technology provides four times the pixel count of conventional HDTV projectors.

The 4K unit for large auditoriums is scheduled to ship in August 2005 for around €100,000. Sony also plans the SRX-R105 for smaller installations, with an output of 5,000 ANSI lumens and a price of approximately €80,000. The projector can also display four standard HDTV signals simultaneously.
