Vizrt, a Norwegian manufacturer of computer-graphics solutions for the broadcasting industry, has acquired Curious Software. The small company based in London and Santa Fe, New Mexico, produces the “World Maps” map-generation software. It allows television broadcasters and video producers to create detailed maps and optionally animate them as well.
Curious Software will be fully integrated into Vizrt and the superior World Maps will replace Vizrt’s existing map solutions.
The purchase is effective retroactively from June 1; the purchase price is US$5 million, and if certain target values are reached, Vizrt will pay an additional US$4 million in its own shares.
