Plazamedia Produces the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup for Premiere

The tournament provides a technical test run for television production at the 2006 World Cup

Plazamedia will produce every match of the FIFA Confederations Cup on behalf of Premiere. The tournament, a dress rehearsal for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, takes place in Germany from 15 to 29 June 2005. Alongside host nation Germany, the participants are world champion Brazil, European champion Greece, Africa Cup winner Tunisia, Olympic champion Argentina, Asian champion Japan, Australia and Mexico. Matches will be played in five of the twelve German World Cup stadiums.

“The Confederations Cup will give German fans a taste of 2006 and at the same time serve as a technical test run for the 2006 FIFA World Cup,” explains Florian Nowosad, chairman of Plazamedia’s management board. The sports television producer will broadcast all 16 matches live for Premiere, deploying 45 employees and up to six additional cameras at each fixture to provide pictures, interviews and commentary from the touchline or the glass studio.

For every Germany match and every fixture from the semi-finals onwards, Premiere subscribers can choose from six channels and select their preferred view of the players independently of the programme director and the course of the match. Viewers can also choose between 16:9 and 4:3 and select the required format by remote control.
