Sonic is now shipping version 4.0 of its eDVD authoring tool. The manufacturer says its new features extend well beyond simple web linking and allow DVD producers to integrate almost every media type into their projects.
Alongside web links, eDVD 4.0 supports FTP, “mailto:” and intranet links, as well as web pages stored on the disc. Any file format can be added to an Enhanced DVD in addition to PDF and image files, including HD WMV, Flash and PowerPoint files.
Ten ready-made eDVD skins are intended to speed the adaptation of Enhanced DVD projects for different audiences, with themes including business, technology and sport. Users can also define the aspect ratio and screen size.
Sonic eDVD 4.0 is available from specialist retailers or the company’s website. The regular price is US$199, with an upgrade available for US$99. An unlimited licence for the InterActual Player is included.
