Pinnacle Systems is focusing its IBC booth this year on channel-branding solutions, with particular emphasis on “hybrid” operation. At the Amsterdam show from 9 to 13 September 2005, the company will present new versions of its Deko character and graphics generators capable of operating simultaneously in SD and HD. Broadcasters will also find a broad range of systems for news, sports and entertainment production at the Pinnacle booth. New products for content delivery, graphics and editing will make their European debut.
Pinnacle is expanding the Deko product range with two variants that can be switched in software between native SD (PAL/NTSC) and native HD (1080i, 1080p, 720p). The manufacturer says templates maintain a consistent screen design across the different image formats. Deko 1000/Hybrid is designed to provide high-end real-time animation for multilayer text and graphics, while Deko 3000/Hybrid adds real-time 3D effects and animation.
For automated graphics creation in networked environments, DekoCast Hybrid provides native SD and HD graphics, video and audio clips, and DV effects. Pinnacle sees applications ranging from channel branding, promotions and in-program advertising to credits and weather forecasts.
Pinnacle’s new MediaStream 8000 HD/SD playout server provides up to 32 additional audio channels per video clip and allows subtitles to be added after recording. For editing in MediaStream environments, the company recommends its Liquid Broadcast 6.1 NLE, which receives data using AFAP (“As Fast As Possible”) technology and edits it directly in MPEG-2 IBP format.
The new products will be shown at Pinnacle’s booth 210 in hall 1.
