In cooperation with Microsoft, Ottonia Media launched Europe’s first DVD with high-definition video in WMV9 format and the maximum HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels in December 2004 with the documentary “Windblown Traces – In Search of Agatha Christie”. A new DVD series in WMV-HD format had already started in February 2005 with “Colourful Planet”. In addition to the first two productions about Australia and Croatia, the series is now being expanded with the travel reports “Highway One” and “L.A.”.
The glossy productions cost around 24 euros and are available as DVDs from selected specialist retailers at amazon.de, dvd-shop.ch and ottonia.de. They can also be seen at the International Consumer Electronics Fair (IFA) from September 2 to 7 in Berlin. Visitors can get an impression of HD image quality for themselves in Hall 2.1 at Stand 120.
Ottonia Media has an extensive footage stock of high-definition material and makes it accessible to a broad public via WMV-HD DVDs. The “Colourful Planet” series is to be expanded in the coming months: Historical documentaries such as “Schiller”, “The Battle of the Nations near Leipzig”, “Johann Sebastian Bach – The Dear God of Music” and “Martin Luther – A Life Between God and the Devil” from the “History of Central Germany” series as well as classical concerts on HD-DVD are also planned for publication.
