Under the name “Camera Moving Systems,” Plazamedia and its partner TV Skyline offer innovative camera systems for TV sports production. The camera family includes sportsCam, helmCam, poleCam and pylonCam. As its latest product, the company is showing the sportsCam III in HD at IBC at stand OEE153, directly by the main trade fair entrance.
According to Plazamedia, the third generation of this camera is the first HD-capable camera system of this kind on the market. The compact remote head with integrated 3-CCD HDTV camera and zoom optics can be used both for high-quality HD productions and in the conventional SD market – both in 16:9 and in 4:3 format. The system can also be switched between 50Hz and 60Hz and can therefore be used worldwide. The zoom optics have a focal length of 6.8 to 84 millimeters (based on 2/3-inch CCDs) and can be extended to 4.8 to 58 millimeters or 11 to 132 millimeters using converter lenses.
The use of high-quality slip rings enables a continuous panning range of 360 degrees. The tilt range is 252 degrees. The speeds for panning and tilting are adjustable over wide ranges, up to a 360-degree pan in less than two seconds. The complete remote head is water-protected and can therefore be used in all weather conditions. In addition to its compact design, the sportsCam III HD is distinguished by a low total weight of under ten kilograms. All system parameters can be adjusted via remote console. An additional Remote Control Pad, which can also be used remotely over long distances, is available for operating the camera. The sportsCam III HD can be used standing or suspended.
