Eizo’s 16:10 S2410W and S2110W monitors differ mainly in their 24- and 21-inch screen diagonals. In addition to their format, size and high resolutions of 1920 x 1200 and 1680 x 1050 pixels respectively, both displays are intended to stand out through their image quality and colour reproduction. Colour is controlled by a chip developed by Eizo. It resolves the tonal values in the image signal with 14-bit computational precision and maps them through a 10-bit look-up table to the corresponding “correct” colour output. Eizo says this method ensures accurate tonal reproduction even in gradients and fine shading within dark image areas.
VA LCD modules and direct backlighting enable the displays to reach brightness levels of up to 450 cd/m², according to the manufacturer, while horizontal and vertical viewing angles are the industry-standard 178 degrees. The anti-glare surface suppresses distracting reflections. An overdrive function developed specifically for motion-picture monitors accelerates transitions between arbitrary colours, allowing movement to be displayed without distracting smearing or judder, Eizo says. The average transition time between colours is 8 ms.
Eizo’s new displays are offered in white-silver or black-metallic finishes. Prices are €1,039 for the S2110W and €1,539 for the S2410W. The warranty includes a five-year on-site replacement service.
