On Wednesday, Bavarian Minister-President Edmund Stoiber will mark the start of Sat.1 HD and ProSieben HD during the Munich Media Days. Both channels will broadcast their programming in HDTV alongside their standard-definition services. Distribution is via Astra at 19.2 degrees East.
Speakers at the HD launch include Stoiber, ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG chairman Guillaume de Posch, Sony Germany marketing director Oliver Kaltner, and Frank Bolten, managing director of Sharp Electronics Germany and Austria.
For the time being, however, neither channel will reach a significant number of viewers: suitable decoders remain scarce.
