Bavaria Production Services GmbH (BPS) is currently carrying out a significant expansion of its capacities in the field of lighting and stage technology. Together with Cine-Mobil GmbH, it operates an equipment pool and has moved into a 1,400 sqm warehouse on the Bavaria Film site, directly next to Bayerischen Filmhallen GmbH. If required, it is now able, in addition to long-running studio productions, to equip up to 20 productions simultaneously with lighting and stage technology. In order to meet the requirements of productions even better in future, the camera technology area is to be expanded in a next step and thus take account of the growing demand for digital recording technology.
With the expanded capacities, BPS is trying to strengthen its position as one of the largest rental providers in the German-speaking region. Together with Cine-Mobil, services can now be offered not only through the BPS branches in Munich, Cologne and Stuttgart, but also in Berlin and Hamburg to a far greater extent than before. Subsidiaries in Austria (Vienna Cine & TV Services) and in Eastern Europe (Noon Filmtechnik, Prague) complement the location policy. “The considerably broader positioning at strategically important locations enables us to better meet the logistical requirements of productions and, despite the continuing price pressure, to further expand our range of services and service,” explains BPS managing director Marc Böckenförde.
