Bavaria Production Services has received a further two-year contract to handle all broadcast engineering for Tele 5. The movie channel, based at the Bavaria Film site, is therefore continuing the partnership with the technical service provider that began in 2001.
For Tele 5’s playout operation, all supplied video material is transmitted from the broadcast server. Bavaria Production Services uses a Harris broadcast automation system with Pinnacle MediaStream video servers. The archive and broadcast servers are equipped with multiple input and output channels. External programming is integrated by receiving broadcast signals via ATM or downlinks. Tele 5 has several ATM PVCs and two digital/analogue downlinks available for this purpose. Bavaria Production Services also operates the broadcast uplink to Astra. Each playout operation has a direct connection to the master control room and the production control rooms in the building. In addition, Bavaria Production Services’ broadcast technology provides logo generators for animated corner bugs and will also offer a Pixel Power graphics engine in the future.
