NEC introduced two hardware-calibrated displays for colour-critical applications: the 19-inch SpectraView 1990 and 20-inch SpectraView 2090. Both target digital imaging, photography, prepress, industrial design and desktop publishing. IPS panels handle image reproduction, while ColorComp improves brightness and colour uniformity.
SpectraView Profiler 4.0 corrects colour directly in the monitor hardware and calibrates white point, gamma, and white and black luminance. Separate 12-bit lookup tables for red, green and blue support precise colour-value definition. Ambix3 connects as many as three signal sources simultaneously. An integrated real-time clock scheduler can switch the display on and off automatically for each weekday, allowing warm-up time to be programmed.
Both displays offer 150 mm of height adjustment, 35 degrees of tilt and portrait rotation.
The SpectraView 1990 cost €1,349 including VAT. NEC positioned it as an upper-entry model for hardware-calibrated monitoring. Pricing for the professional 20-inch SpectraView 2090 had not been announced.
