Cable-network consortium Arena commissioned Plazamedia to provide technical production and operations for its Bundesliga coverage. From the 2006/2007 season, the television and new-media service provider was to produce Germany’s first and second Bundesliga divisions for Arena’s pay-TV platform under a three-year exclusive contract.
The work covered outside broadcasts and studio production, including all production equipment and personnel at stadiums, contribution to the broadcast centre in Ismaning, live production of the conference channel and playout. The conference channel used a complex production setup to carry every match of a round and a highlights conference feed in parallel and live.
Plazamedia planned to expand its Ismaning broadcast centre with a new production environment for Arena within weeks. Arena highlighted the provider’s national and international experience in football production.
The German Football League had awarded the Bundesliga rights to Arena in late December 2005.
