Viewers of auction channel 1-2-3.tv can now also bid live through their mobile-phone menu: the interactive Joca mobile media portal, which can be loaded onto any modern mobile phone without additional fees, now offers participation-menu functions linked to the live TV program and all of the broadcaster’s editorial, billing and delivery systems. Viewers who have registered once with 1-2-3.tv and received their PIN code can use it to take part in all auctions by mobile phone and also submit advance bids for future auctions. The products up for auction are presented with an image and text in the Joca menu.
Joca is a development by Interactiv Gesellschaft für interaktive TV-Dienste from Munich. The mobile media portal also offers various other, mostly free service functions, including news, program information, Wikipedia queries, radio playlists and a download service. At CeBIT, it received the industry association Bitkom’s Innovators Award for “the best convergence idea of 2006.”
“Our cooperation with 1-2-3.tv is the first live TV auction service in regular operation – in contrast to previous prototypes and showcases,” explains Interactiv managing director Dr. Marcus Garbe. “Especially through its particularly easy-to-use navigation, Joca offers 1-2-3.tv viewers a fast, simple and also inexpensive service, and without additional hardware.”
