At its NAB booth, OmniBus presents its new iTX software as a pioneering innovation. The IT-based video content and playout solution combines all functions of the master control and playout chain, represents video servers, master control, graphics and logo inserters with automation, ingest, editing and content management, and can process various formats such as DV, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, WMV as well as SD and HD. iTX is built on standard IT and network technologies and is thus intended to significantly reduce the costs of putting a channel into operation.
The exact savings depend on the complexity of a project, but OmniBus considers savings of 50 percent realistic. In addition, follow-up costs are expected to be substantially lower than with conventional systems. The manufacturer promotes iTX as an ideal system for the new broadcast customers from the IT and communications sector (such as telephone companies).
The software solution is already available and is already in operation at several customers. OmniBus points to reference customers such as AOL and Microsoft. Microsoft Studios wants to use iTX to operate a cable network for employees and customers.
