The products of Canopus, the company acquired by Grass Valley, have now been integrated into the Thomson group’s range. Among other things, there is a connection between the Edius editor and the Gras Valley K2 Media Server.
A new version of the Edius NLE software is now coming onto the market. Edius Pro version 4.0 offers multicamera support for up to eight cameras, Nested Editing in a separate timeline, advanced trimming functions and Keyframe support for Colour Correction. The new functions will also be incorporated into Edius Broadcast software.
The new version 4.0 also includes Windows Media support and the Edius Speed Encoder for fast HDV output. Edius Pro can process SD and HD, HDV, DV, MPEG-2 as well as lossless and uncompressed SD signals within one project.
Edius Pro 4.0 is to be available from the end of June for 699 US dollars and the upgrade from Pro 3 for 199 US dollars. Edius Broadcast version 4.0 is to come onto the market at the same time and cost 999 US dollars. Here too, the upgrade comes in at 199 US dollars. From August, the other Edius packages such as Edius NX are also to contain the new functions.
Effective immediately, Canopus is shipping the NewsEdit XT complete systems and the Edius turnkey systems with the new Rev Pro drives. This provides a necessary addition to Grass Valley’s Infinity products. Naturally, existing systems can also be retrofitted with external Rev Pro–drives.
