Miranda, a specialist in high-performance software and hardware in the broadcasting field, announced at NAB its intention to buy the Canadian graphics-automation and workflow provider VertigoXmedia. Through the acquisition – it is to be completed at the end of May – the manufacturer wants to strengthen its core business areas „Master Control“ and „Channel Branding“. In the environment of IPTV, mobile and internet TV, Miranda sees strongly increasing demand here that the company wants to cover better through the acquisition.
But in-house new developments are also intended to support this strategy: The new Imagestore Intuition HD/SD Channel Branding co-processor is intended to significantly increase the graphics performance of the Imagestore processors.
After Miranda showed the first HDV converter ever at the last NAB, the company is now presenting additional products in this area at NAB 2006. The HD-Bridge DEC+ is an HDV converter that offers Composite, SD/HD Component Video, AES and analog Audio, LTC and RS422. A cross-converter additionally makes it possible to convert 1080i and 720p signals. The device also enables conversion from 720p 24 HDV to 1080 PsF24 HD-SDI.
