The new V-Ray for Rhino 1.0 plug-in from American manufacturer ASGvis is now available as a full version. It is designed as an extension for the Rhinoceros 3.0 NURBS free-form surface modeler and uses various methods of light simulation (for example Global Illumination or Global Lighting) to calculate physically flawless light reflections and refractions. Lens effects like those of camera lenses can also be simulated to obtain image calculations with realistic depth of field or fisheye perspectives.

V-Ray for Rhino 1.0 also supports HDRI images, adaptive antialiasing, reusable caustics and Global Photon Maps. A comprehensive V-Ray Material Editor including light materials and a material preview window is intended to provide clarity and handling that is easy even for beginners.

German supplier FlexiCad positions the renderer as a tool for industrial, ship, automotive and jewelry designers, as well as for all architects and model makers who place particular value on a photorealistic representation of their 3D models. The full version of V-Ray for Rhino 1.0 costs 799 euros plus VAT.
