Complementing the flagship XL H1, Canon is launching two new compact camcorders in the high-definition segment. The XH A1 offers 25-frame recording as well as Cine Gamma settings that enhance the “cinema look”. With the XH G1, a new product category is being introduced that additionally has studio-standard connections.
Both new camcorders are expected to be available from specialist retailers from November 2006 for 3,999 euros (XH A1) and 6,999 euros (XH G1), respectively.
The core features of the XH series are:

20x zoom fluorite optics from Canon’s L series (35mm equivalent 32.5 – 650 millimetres) with UD lenses and optical image stabiliser (Super Range)

Instant autofocus for extreme high-speed focusing, Focus Assist for manual settings

HD-optimised DIGIC DV II3 processor

professional 2-channel XLR audio input; the XH G1 additionally has an HD-SDI output, timecode input/output and genlock inputs for multi-camera synchronisation

compact design with optimised arrangement of the controls

internal battery system for an extended range of use
